In 1998 Max Commencal was left with 2 choices: buy back the own company of his which he was pressed out of, and wipe the slate clean and begin afresh. “I preferred starting from 0. I did not wish to offer cash to those guys…” he explains having turned the back of his on 10 years of work at Sunn, giving him to gaze at a blank canvas. He included the very first brush strokes in the type of Andorran purchase, that led Max from the south of France and into the principality hidden away in the Pyrenees.
Commencal bikes continues to be in Andorra some twenty years later with Max still at the helm of the office, that is within earshot of the World Cup monitor, though it is unlikely you will find the close to sixty workers in work come race day. To race is an important component of daily living at Commencal with them experiencing World Cup success with racing royalty as Anne Caro, the Athertons, and obviously the present harvest of Commencal Vallnord racers that are a near permanent fixture on the WC podium.
The organization has acquired some true momentum recently and they have expanded into America, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand in rapid succession. The costs are lower that is another way where Commencal has got such a solid foothold on the market in the second.
Search through the line up and there’s an unique lack of carbon in the Commencal profile. They did provide the likes of the Skin, Super four, and Meta in carbon for a number of years, but after going to the producer in China, Max chose to place a stop to it all. “I was so disappointed to find out the bad, problems that are bad for the workers… young people who have the co2 particles, with just a bad paper mask. The proprietor was saying’ No, it’s as this’… I was not at ease with that.” Which was the conclusion to carbon at Commencal, though it was not only the humanitarian side which leaves the organization as aluminium advocates. As Max describes, a co2 mold is costly and leaves very little room to tweak and also change the style, something that Commencal are always playing with, particularly with the racing team of theirs.
Precisely why Get a COMMENCAL?
Life at Commencal is a family affair; it is not just Max’s title above the doorstep and on all of the bikes with 2 of the kids of his solidly active in the business. It is a tightly knit lot in work and from it also, the racing teams of theirs appear to discuss exactly the same family like structure too, coincidentally or perhaps not… the enduro staff run by the Ravanel’s as well as the downhill staff by the Ruffin’s. There is lots of faces from work in Andorra showing up at the races across the planet also, not least Max: “I love to offer bikes everywhere. I’m proud being contained in America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK. I love the competition. I love working with top riders to assist them. I believe it is the actual DNA of the manufacturer. Traveling. Sport. Work.”
Commencal recently celebrated the twentieth anniversary of theirs and look to have a really strong position for the following 20. Max remarks, “I am not young today but what’s obvious is I love what I am doing a great deal, 2 of the kids work of mine with me. I’ve a very nice team really. I truly love to handle them, to go with them. When I are available here I do not feel as I am going to do the job, it’s a pleasure.”
Because of this structure comes really passionately designed and also built MTB’s. Join the club now!
