The typical placement is from weekdays from Monday to Friday (however should you wish to have weekend shifts this is certainly something we can organise specifically for you). So, if you’re not in a placement, you’ll get plenty of time in the evenings and on weekends to explore your chosen location.

Ghana
Ghana is located at the heart of West Africa along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. A few medical electives are offered in the city of Takoradi which is about a four hour drive in the direction of the capital, Accra. If you’ve not been to Africa previously, Ghana is perfect for that first visit. Outside of location explore the gorgeous beaches, lush forests, and the vibrant Ghanaian tradition.

Most frequent student trips:
Kakum National Park – Trek through the forest canopy, spot wildlife from treetops and if your brave enough you could spend the night in the treehouse
Cape Coast Castle – Take a guided tour of the 17th century slave forts and find out what you can about the serious, but fascinating history of slave trade
Mole National Park – Located further North, from here you can go on safari to spot elephants, lions , and baboons.
The Gold Coast – Sun-soaked sandy shores, beachfront resorts are plentiful and include Axim Beach being a favourite by our students.
Tanzania
Tanzania is an East African country on the Indian Ocean. Dar es Salaam is where our Tanzanian program is based. It’s the city is cosmopolitan and bustling, making it the ideal starting point for exploring this stunning country. Outside of the city, you’ll be spoilt for choice in terms of once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences. From white-sand beaches that look like postcards in the world to the best amazing safari parks around the globe.

Zanzibar – Just an hour away from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar’s breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters are a mecca for backpackers, divers and party-goers
Safari safari Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Mikumi What a great choice! All of the members of the ‘Big 5’ can be seen in these diverse parks and reserves. You’ll also have the chance to view huge herds wildebeest roaming its plains during the annual migration
Mount Kilimanjaro – The highest mountain in Africa. A trek that is guided to the summit should take approximately 4-7 days. If you have the time to add this to the beginning or end of your adventure This is an experience that should not be missed.
