Why Cast Aluminium Guttering?

Cast iron gutters have many advantages, as they are resistant to rust and corrosion. Aluminium gutters have many more benefits than cast iron. Our marine grade aluminum has been specifically designed to resist corrosion from salt spray from roads and marine environments. Our gutters will last for years without any maintenance.

Here are some benefits of casting aluminium gutters or rainwater goods

Cast aluminium guttering is lighter than cast iron, making it simpler and faster to install.
Our gutters are less expensive than cast iron counterparts.
Cast aluminium gutters are designed to last at least 25-years when used for domestic purposes.
We offer a wide range of gutter systems in styles that will suit any property type, including Victorian, Edwardian, and Georgian.
You can order our products in a variety of powder-coated colours, including heritage colours.
Cast aluminium can be recycled multiple times, making it an environmentally-friendly choice. Our products are also made from recycled aluminum.
Cast aluminium is a combination of traditional elegance and style, with modern strength to last.
Cast aluminium is ideal for period homes and buildings because it can be almost impossible to distinguish between powder coated aluminumm and cast iron guttering.

Aluminum Gutters are a good choice:

1. Lightweight

Aluminium is a light metal that weighs in at 2.7g/cm3. This is about a third of the weight of cast iron and steel. An aluminium gutter system installs faster and is safer than a cast-iron system because of its weight difference. A square, cast iron downpipe may weigh more than 30kg while a square aluminum downpipe will only weigh 5kg.

2. Impact resistance

Aluminium is very strong despite its light weight. An aluminium downpipe might dents under impact but the deformation absorbs the force of impact. Cast iron or plastic downpipes would fracture under impact and need to be replaced immediately. Although the aluminium downpipe might be damaged, it will not need to be replaced.

3. Corrosion resistance

Aluminum naturally produces a protective oxide coating that is highly resistant to corrosion. This property is further enhanced by powder coating which gives it a life expectancy of approximately 30 years with very little maintenance.

4. UV Radiation Resistance

Aluminium is resistant against UV radiation from sunlight. Plastic gutters and downpipes can become brittle over time due to sun exposure and may also experience colour fade.

5. Temperature and Fire Resistance

Aluminium’s properties are stable at temperatures ranging from -80 to +150 degrees Celsius. Aluminium becomes harder in extreme cold, which makes it more difficult to work with. Aluminium is non-combustible and does not burn. Aluminium melts at 600 to 650 degrees Celsius, but does not release any harmful gases. Plastic becomes fragile when it freezes. Plastic will melt quickly and then burn in the presence of heat, allowing it to spread further while also releasing harmful gases into the atmosphere.

6. Minimal maintenance

Powder coated aluminum rainwater systems require very little maintenance. To ensure a long life expectancy, keep the gutters clear of leaves and debris. Also, clean surfaces with warm soapy water at least once a year. Cast iron needs to be repainted every 5-7 years in order to prevent rust, which can be costly and time-consuming.

7. Recyclable

Aluminium can be recycled 100% without any degradation in its properties. Re-melting aluminium requires only about 5 percent of its initial production energy, making it a more environmentally friendly option for rainwater systems.
